Moscow, Feb 24: Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine and called on soldiers there to lay down their arms.

Ukraine has said that the Russian military vehicles have crossed into the country at multiple locations. The vehicles are said to have crossed in from various places including Belarus in the north and Crimea in the south. There are also crossings that have taken place the east, in the region of Kharkiv and Luhansk.

Russia, according to Ukraine’s border service opened fire with artillery before sending the military vehicles across.

French President Emmanuel Macron says Russia must immediately end war against Ukraine.

Ukraine’s central bank governor says they have limited cash withdrawals from accounts to 100,000 Hryvnia (Ukranian currency) per day.
