Mask up even after 7-day recovery period, say experts

Health experts have said that people who’ve come out of the mandatory seven-day quarantine after recovering from mild or asymptomatic Covid should continue to wear masks as transmission risk in some categories of recovered may not be zero. According to central guidelines, mild cases admitted to a Covid Care Facility or under home isolation can be discharged after at least seven days have passed from testing positive and with no fever for three successive days. Covid cases in TN fall at same pace as they rose

Tamil Nadu reported fewer than 5,000 new Covid-19 cases after nearly a month on Tuesday, when the state added 4,519 new cases to the state registry, discharged 20,237 people, and declared 37 deaths. With this, active cases in the state dropped below one lakh to 90,137. The fall in the number of cases, at the same pace as the rise, has resulted in a bellshaped curve in the epidemic graph during the third wave.

Active Covid-19 cases in Ladakh declined to 773 with 179 coronavirus patients being cured, while 70 fresh cases were recorded, taking the overall caseload to 27,062, officials said on Wednesday (PTI)

New Covid wave batters Afghanistan’s crumbling health care

Next Covid variant likely to be more infectious: WHO

Omicron will not be the last variant and the next variant of concern is likely to be more transmissible, the World Health Organization has said, warning against complacency in following Covid-appropriate protocol. “Omicron will not be the last variant you will hear us speaking about. The next variant of concern will be more fit and what we mean by that is it will be more transmissible because it will have to overtake what is currently circulating. The big question is whether or not future variants will be more or less severe,” said Maria Van Kerkhove, Covid-19 technical lead at WHO.

Covid 3rd wave passed, says Telangana health director

With Telangana seeing a sharp decline in Covid-19 cases in the last one week, director public health, Dr G Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday announced that the third wave was over and people can now get back to their normal lives, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
