New Honda Africa Twin Comes In With A Much-Friendly Update

Honda has launched an updated version of its ‘King of the Hill’ adventure motorcycle, the Africa Twin Adventure Sports. The Africa Twin for 2022 gets a few cosmetic changes, updated features and a new price tag. It is priced at a premium of Rs 5,000 over the previous one, which means the Africa Twin Adventure Sports costs Rs 16.01 lakh for the manual variant, and Rs 17.50 lakh for the DCT variant (all prices, ex-showroom).

So what’s new? For starters, the 2022 Africa Twin Adventure Sports gets a Matt Ballistic Metallic Black paint scheme, which means darker rims instead of the gold-coloured ones seen on the older model.

The other Pearl Glare White variant has also received some cosmetic updates in the form of a decal refresh. Also new on the motorcycle is Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

Under the skin, things are pretty much the same. the Africa Twin continues to be powered by the 1082cc liquid-cooled unit, which makes 99hp and 103Nm of torque. Apart from the addition of Android Auto, the feature list hasn’t been changed. The 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen display, switchable dual-channel ABS, six riding modes, selectable torque control, and six-axis IMU, cornering lights have all been carried forward.

The model for 2022 also retains the same suspension setup, with USD forks at the front with 45mm of travel and a mono-shock at the rear, with hydraulic preload, rebound and gas-charged damping. Braking hardware too remains the same with 310mm discs at the front and 256mm single-piston calliper at the rear.

The 2022 Honda Africa Twin faces competition from the Triumph Tiger 900 (Rs 13.70 lakh) and the Ducati Multistrada 950 S (Rs 15.49 lakh). (All prices, ex-showroom).
