Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with IBM (under CSR), launched a two-year Advanced Diploma (Vocational) in IT, Networking and Cloud Computing (ADIT) in February 2018. The programme has been approved by NCVET as NSQF Level-6, and it is offered through the National Skills Training Institute (NSTIs) under DGT across the country.


Training in the ADIT Course started in 2018 at two NSTIs (Bangalore and Hyderabad) with 19 students each and was expanded to 16 NSTIsin 2019 with focus on skill-based learning to create industry pathways for students in the IT sector, and to build the new-collar skills aligned with Industrial Standard 4.0 in collaboration with IBM.It will now be extended to 24 NSTIs in 2022.


•      The programme is designedwith a hands-on learning experience and more focus on practical skills compared with theoretical knowledge.


•      It involves 5-month duration of industry internship (On-Job-Training with stipend) where students get an opportunity to work with domain experts on real-time projects / industrial environment.


•      Also, students are supported with IBM SkillsBuild, an online skilling platform, where content is made available by industry experts, and students have the opportunity to pursue job-role based learning with global levels of certification.


There is utmost need for working closely with the industries and academia to expandand scale the skill development programmes. The DGT has collaborated with various Industries and academia like Accenture, Quest Alliance, CISCO, Microsoft, NASSCOM Foundation, IBM, Dassault Aviation, HPCL Mumbai and IGNOU etc. for enhancing the training activities and Industrial connect.


Besides above, DGT has started following schemes/ initiatives to improve the industries’ involvement in skill ecosystem:


i)        Dual system of Training (DST):To enable industries to partner with Government and Private ITIs for conducting training programmes under high employability courses


ii)       Flexi-MoU: The scheme allows industries to train candidates as per their skill set requirements and provides trainees with an industry environment aligned with the market demand and latest technology to undergo training.


iii)      Short term online programs on emerging technologies by various IT companies like CISCO, IBM, Microsoft, etc. through Bharatskills


iv)      Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA): Two-week classroom program by CISCOin6 NSTIs


v)       Modern Employability skills training by Quest Alliance


vi)      The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) course for ITI Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA) students by Microsoft.
