DIBRUGARH: A manwas burnt alive by a group of agitated tea garden workers on Saturday after he killed a five-year-old boy at Dholajan Tea Estate in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
The accused, Sunit Tanti, had allegedly killed the boy, Ujjal Mura, by slitting his throat with a knife.
“The tea garden workers chased Tanti for half a kilometre before burning him alive,” a resident said. Police reached the spot and have begun a probe,” Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said.
“Mura, along with other kids, was playing in Tanti’s compound on Saturday. Suddenly, Tanti became angry and killed him. We’ve sent bodies for postmortem,” Mishra said.
