Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah returned with a fiery spell of fast bowling on Day 2 and picked up his eighth 5-wicket haul in 29 Tests to emulate former India skipper Kapil Dev as the hosts bundled out Sri Lanka for 109, thus taking a 143-run first-innings lead in the ongoing Pink ball game in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Bumrah bagged his first five-wicket haul at home and eighth overall – the joint-most for an Indian seamer after 29 Tests alongside Kapil Dev. Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India, picking up five wickets for 24 runs.

Sri Lanka resumed Day 2 at 86 for 6 and Niroshan Dickwella kickstarted with back-to-back boundaries off Jasprit Bumrah. However, Bumrah returned in the next over to bounce out Lasith Embuldeniya for 1.

Niroshan Dickwella was the next man to depart as Bumrah dismissed him to register his first 5-wicket haul at home, while Ashwin took a couple of wickets to bowl out the Lankans for 109. SL managed to add only 23 runs in 35 balls on Day 2 and handed India a massive 143-run first-innings lead.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for their second-lowest total in Test cricket against India in the first innings on day two of the Day-night Test in Bengaluru on Sunday. Angelo Mathews was the top scorer with 43, while Niroshan Dickwella added 21.
