Chhatra Bazar Bridge Collapse: CM Naveen Orders Probe, Rs 3 Lakh Ex-Gratia For Deceased’s Kin
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered an RDC-level probe into the Chhatra Bazar bridge collapse incident in Cuttack which claimed two lives and left one injured on Wednesday.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives in the mishap, the CM also announced Rs 3 lakh ex-gratia for the next of the kin of the deceased.
He has also directed concerned officials to provide the best medical treatment to the injured and wished a speedy recovery.
Notably, two persons were killed while another sustained injuries after a portion of the bridge connecting Chhatra Bazar and Malgodown in Cuttack city collapsed on Wednesday evening.
Though the identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained, they are said to be the contractual workers engaged in the construction work at the bridge, Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh said.
A team of ODRAF is carrying out the rescue operations along with the police and fire brigade.
