Twin City Police Ups Patrolling As ULB Polls Near, Launches All-Women Enforcement Drive

The Commissionerate Police has intensified its surveillance and patrolling in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar keeping an eye on the upcoming civic body elections in the State.

As per reports, several Police stations in the Twin Cities have commenced patrolling on motorcycles with personnel also deployed on foot to keep tab on anti-socials which often get more active during elections.

The Commisisonerate Police has also undertaken a special drive against those who drink in public places, especially near eateries, dhabas and outside liquor vends.

Around 200 people have been fined with Rs 500 each for drinking alcohol at public places in various parts of the State Capital city Bhubaneswar. Apart from crackdown on boozing at public places, the Commissionerate Police has also decided to act tough on the mischief mongers especially those who throng various hangout zones or ‘khatti’.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Twin City Police today also launched an all-women enforcement drive to curb the traffic violations in Bhubaneswar.

To mark the special event, the Commissionerate Police launched a rally from Power House square in the city till the Infocity Police station in Patia.

The woman squad of bike borne patrollers will enhance the vigil of police in maintaining law and order and also act on traffic violators.

Speaking about the launch, Commissioner of Police, Saumendra Priyadarshi said, “We wanted to reiterate the vital role the women cops play in maintaining law and order. On this International Women’s Day, we feel privileged to have these splendid personnel who have proven their mantle time and again.”
