TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor. We asked him about his journey and his bond with Krishna Kaul.
How did you begin your acting journey? Was it a childhood dream to become an actor?
I always wanted to become an actor, and in school, I was always involved in extracircular activities. When I was in college, in the first year, I had won a modeling competition in Delhi, but coming into the entertainment world wasn’t easy. I began as an assistant on films and I am close to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Television wasn’t an option for me. It just happened. I auditioned for a role and India Wali Maa happened. I did play negative roles continuously. The city accepted me well and one break lead to another. Then, because of some miscommunication, I had to leave Thapki Pyar Ki 2. Then, KumKum Bhagya happened, which is a huge show with such great actors. I said “yes” and began to shoot for the serial.
How is your equation with your co-stars, and whom are you closest to on the sets of the show?
Shooting for KumKum Bhagya is a very different experience. The entire star cast is of the young generation. I have my maximum scenes with Krishna Kaul. One day, as I was getting ready for the shot, Krishna came and introduced himself. He was so kind and down to earth. He is my best friend and I share a great bond with him. We do catch up and hang around off and on sets. Friendship is really special to me.
Do you have any dream role and dream director and actor?
I would love to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali someday as I love his direction and the way he presents his actors. He takes care of every aspect and does everything so carefully. It’s really commendable.
I would love to play the character of Ranbir Kapoor from the movie Tamasha. I can relate to the character and it has so many emotions to portray as an actor.
Well, we hope that someday, Abhishek gets to work with his dream director.
