US President Joe Biden apparently had an awkward moment when he mistakenly referred to Ukrainian people as “Iranian” in his first State of Union address on Wednesday. He was discussing the ongoing Russia and Ukraine crisis.
Joe Biden’s address came as the Russian invasion of Ukraine entered its Day 7. He announced that the United States is closing its airspace to Russian planes, asserting that this along with other punitive measures would weaken Russia.
While his stance has received major approval from people all across the world, Biden made an apparent gaffe during his address which has also gained attention on social media.
“Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he’ll never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people,” Joe Biden seemingly said while urging everyone to put up a united front against Russian aggression.
“He’ll never, he’ll never extinguish their love of freedom,” he continued. “And he will never, ever weaken the resolve of the free world.”
Soon, “Iranian” began trending on Twitter and a short video of Joe Biden where he appeared to mispronounce Ukrainian started doing the rounds of the internet. The video also shows US Vice President Kamala Harris standing beside Biden, focusing on Kamala Harris’s reaction to the US President’s mispronunciation.

Did Biden just say Putin is encircling Kyiv but he’ll never win the heart and soul of the Iranian people?
