TCL unveils NxtPaper MAX 10, Tab 10s 5G and a couple of Tab 10 models

TCL had multiple tablets to show off at the MWC, including several new models, a 5G revision of an existing model and even a teaser for something big to come.

TCL NxtPaper MAX 10

The TCL NxtPaper MAX 10 has a 10.36” display (FHD+ resolution) that is made up of multiple layers, the top of which is anti-glare glass to cut down on reflections. The display is designed to look and feel like paper for a more comfortable reading and writing experience (using the A-Pen stylus).

The tablet runs the older Android 11 and has the TCL Kids feature for when it needs to serve as entertainment for the little ones. The battery has 8,000 mAh capacity for long school sessions (this was designed with study from home in mind).

The NxtPaper MAX 10 will be available soon in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE configurations. Sales will start in Asia in the middle of Q2 and the price will be around €270.

TCL Tab 10s 5G

This is an upgraded version of the Tab 10s 4G. It is powered by a 5G-enabled MediaTek chipset with two Cortex-A78 cores (2.4 GHz) and six A55 (2.0 GHz), plus a Mali G57 MC2 GPU and a 5G modem (sub-6).

Besides the faster connectivity, the chipset has more power since it replaces an octa-core A53 CPU and a GE8320 GPU. You get a bit more memory as standard too, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage (plus a microSD slot).

The 10.1” IPS LCD is the same (1,920 x 1,200 px, 16:10) and so is the 8,000 mAh battery with 18W charging support (charger included). There is a 5 MP camera on the front and an 8 MP one on theback, plus Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.1 and dual speakers.

The TCL Tab 10s 5G will go on sale in mid-Q2 with a €350 price tag.

TCL Tab 10 FHD 4G

This is a more affordable 10.1” tablet (IPS LCD with 1,920 x 1,200 px resolution, 16:10). It also runs Android 11 (including the TCL Kids feature), but has a smaller 5,500 mAh battery that charges at just 10W (it takes around 3 and a half hours to get to 100%).

The TCL Tab 10 FHD 4G is powered by a MediaTek chipset with an octa-core A53 processor and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The chip is hooked up to 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB storage, expandable via microSD.

As name suggests, this one has 4G connectivity (Cat. 4, 150 Mbps down, 50 Mbps up). There is also Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.0. Additionally, there is USB-C 2.0 and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, plus dual speakers. The tablet is equipped two 5 MP cameras – one on the front and one on the back with 1080p @ 30 fps video support (and video calling, of course).

The TCL Tab 10 FHD 4G will also be available in Asia starting in late March at a price of €200.

TCL Tab 10 HD

This is actually two tablets, similar to the one above. Obviously, the resolution of the IPS LCD is lower – 1,280 x 800 px (16:9) – however the 5,500 mAh battery with 10W charging and two 5 MP cameras (one on the front, one on the rear) are the same.

Even the MediaTek chipset is the same (8x A53, GE8320). Now here is why we said it’s actually two tablets – if you get the version with 3/32 GB memory, it will run Android 11. The 2/32 GB model runs Android 11 Go Edition. Both have 4G connectivity (150/50 Mbps) and a microSD slot.

The TCL Tab 10 HD is launching in Europe now with a starting price of €180.

TCL teased that it has one more tablet in the works and it’s a big deal – the Tab Pro 12 5G will offer a larger screen and faster next-gen connectivity.
