Core sector grows 3.7% in January 2022

Production of eight core sectors rose by 3.7 per cent in January, 2022. April-January core sector output grew by 11.6 per cent as compared to same period last year.

The production of Coal, Natural Gas, Refinery Products, Steel, Cement and Electricity industries increased in January 2022over the corresponding periodof last year.

The index of eight core industries measures the output of eight infrastructure industries – coal, crude, natural gas, refinery products, fertilisers, cement, steel and electricity.

The core sector index has a 40.27% weight in the index of industrial production (IIP) and a low growth points to a likely weak industrial growth.
