MUMBAI: Recently, we are witnessing South superstars getting a lot of love from a pan-India audience. How can we forget movies like Baahubali and Pushpa, which got an amazing response from fans. Prabhas and Allu Arjun have won the hearts of the audience not only at the regional level but also at the national level.
We won’t be wrong in saying that Bollywood actors are now facing tough competition from South superstars. Having said that, there was a time when few South Indian actors tried their luck in Bollywood but failed miserably.

1. Mohanlal
Mohanlal is indeed one of the most loved actors in the South, but did you know the actor made his Bollywood debut with the Ram Gopal Varma movie Company. Later, the actor was seen in projects like Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and Tezz. Mohanlal failed to make his mark in Bollywood.
2. Ajit Kumar
Ajith Kumar who is currently getting an amazing response for his movie Valilami is no doubt one of the most loved and followed actors in the South industry. But do you know the actor made his Bollywood debut along with Shahrukh Khan in the movie Asoka. He did not get any recognition in Bollywood, and this was his first and last movie in Bollywood. But no doubt he is one of the popular faces down South.

3. Nagarjuna
Indian actor Nagarjuna needs no introduction. He is one of the most loved and popular actors in the South industry. He appeared in few Bollywood movies but failed to make a strong mark in the industry. The actor is now all set to be seen in the upcoming Bollywood movie Brahmastra along with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan.
4. Mammootty
A name that needs no introduction, superstar Mammootty is known for his acting contribution down South. The actor has also tried his luck in Bollywood in the year 1993 with his movie Dhartiputra but failed to make a mark.
5. Nitin
Nitin, who is a popular name in the South industry, also tried his luck in Bollywood. He was seen in the movie Agyaat, which was directed by Ram Gopal Varma, but the actor failed to impress.
