Indian bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar, who was bought by the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the mega auction for Rs 14 crore, might miss the 15th edition of the league after having suffered a hamstring injury recently.
During India’s third and final T20I against West Indies on Sunday (February 20), Deepak Chahar had to walk off the field while he was completing his second over after suffering a right quadriceps injury, which also made him unavailable for the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. A source reportedly informed a news agency that the injury was so severe, Deepak Chahar could also miss the entire IPL tournament this year. Following the governing council meeting, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel on Thursday announced that the cash-rich league would be held between March 26 and May 29.
“His injury looks bad. For all you know, he could be out of the IPL too,” the source was quoted as saying by TOI. If Deepak Chahar is, in fact, unable to participate in the tournament, it will be a huge blow to CSK, as the player was the second most expensive pick at the mega auction following Ishan Kishan.
